Sambar Powder - Authentic South Indian Recipe
The heart of a South Indian meal. Tejasv Origins Sambar Powder is a rich, aromatic blend of coriander seeds, red chillies, fenugreek, cumin, and lentils, crafted to make a sambar that is deep, complex, and genuinely satisfying. The kind of sambar that makes steamed rice feel like a complete meal.
The Story Behind the Powder
Sambar is not just a dish. It is the course that defines a South Indian meal, the thing that gets ladled generously over rice, that accompanies idli and dosa at breakfast, and that appears in some form at almost every meal in a traditional South Indian home. Its flavour is complex, built from the interplay of tamarind, lentils, vegetables, and a spice blend that varies from kitchen to kitchen and region to region.
At Tejasv Origins, we have crafted our Sambar Powder around the spices that give sambar its characteristic depth. Coriander seeds form the aromatic base. Fenugreek adds the slight bitterness that is essential to a proper sambar. Cumin and black pepper bring warmth and earthiness. Chana dal and urad dal add body. Red chillies, curry leaves, turmeric, and asafoetida complete the blend with the balance and complexity of a recipe refined over generations.
The result is a sambar powder that makes a genuinely good sambar, one that is rich, aromatic, and deeply satisfying, every single time.

Why Choose Tejasv Origins?
Sambar powder is one of those blends where every spice matters. Too much fenugreek and the sambar becomes bitter. Too little and it loses its character. We have spent time getting this balance right, using whole spices roasted carefully and ground to a consistent, aromatic powder.
The sambar you make with this powder will taste like it was made from a recipe that has been in the family for years. Because the recipe it is based on has been.
